Social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has once again stirred controversy after reacting angrily to a viral video of Afrobeats superstar Davido singing lyrics that appeared to mock him at Zlatan Ibile's wedding welcome party in Morocco.

What was supposed to be a moment of celebration has become another talking point online, with VDM accusing Zlatan of using his newly released song, INFERNO, to throw indirect insults at him.

The lyric that started it

The controversy began after a video surfaced showing Davido enthusiastically singing along to a line that sounded like, "I no be Vincent, I no dey mast…"

For those familiar with VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, the reference to "Vincent" immediately raised eyebrows, particularly because of his earlier controversial comments about masturbation.

VDM responds

VDM did not find it funny. In a video shared online, he defended his earlier statements, insisting he saw nothing wrong with his position. According to him, he would rather satisfy himself than go around begging women for attention.

He also questioned why his personal comments had apparently become material for a song, suggesting Zlatan was deliberately taking a swipe at him.

What caught many people's attention was the warning he directed at the singer. Speaking in Pidgin, he said, in effect: "Zlatan, I'm coming for you now. You will learn the hard way."

The Davido angle

The episode has also brought fresh attention to VDM's relationship with Davido. The two were once publicly friendly, and their association drew plenty of attention online. Their relationship has since appeared strained, with fans often speculating about what went wrong.

Seeing Davido sing along to lyrics VDM believes were aimed at him has only added another chapter to that conversation.

Was it really about VDM?

There is no confirmed evidence that Zlatan wrote the lyrics to attack VeryDarkMan. That interpretation is VDM's, and the viral clip alone does not show what the singer intended.

Even so, social media users are divided. Some believe VDM is taking an ordinary lyric too personally, while others argue that using a name tied to someone already at the centre of a public controversy was always going to draw a reaction.

Knowing how outspoken VDM can be, many followers are now watching to see whether this ends with his warning or turns into another public confrontation.

Over to you

Was Zlatan deliberately mocking VeryDarkMan through his song, or is VDM reading too much into the lyrics?

Carter Efe sparks outrage with harsh words against VeryDarkMan, drags his mother into their feud

Comedian and content creator Carter Efe has stirred fresh controversy after a video in which he made a harsh declaration about VeryDarkMan's mother. Many people online say bringing a parent into a social media quarrel goes too far.

Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator Carter Efe has stirred fresh controversy on social media after a disturbing statement directed at activist VeryDarkMan (VDM).

What he said

In a video circulating online, Carter Efe made a harsh declaration involving VeryDarkMan's mother, leaving many people asking how far social media disagreements should be allowed to go.

Speaking in Pidgin, he said, in effect: "VeryDarkMan, if you don't bring me down, your mother will die. Whatever your mother is looking for in this life, she will not find it."

The statement, which amounts to wishing death and misfortune on VDM's mother, has raised concerns about the kind of language being used in online confrontations.

When feuds go too far

Disagreements between public figures are nothing new in Nigeria. Celebrities exchange insults, make accusations and drag one another for days, and sometimes the whole thing turns into entertainment for their followers.

But bringing someone's mother into a personal disagreement, especially with words wishing her death or misfortune, is something many people consider completely unacceptable.

Whatever the disagreement between Carter Efe and VeryDarkMan may be, one question remains: what has VDM's mother got to do with it? These are parents who may know little or nothing about the arguments their children are having online.

No explanation yet

At the time of writing, Carter Efe has not publicly explained what led him to make the statement.

Over to you

Has Carter Efe taken this disagreement too far, or do you believe his words are being taken out of context?

"Go and work, I have children to take care of!": GehGeh sends strong message to his siblings and critics

Social media personality and financial adviser GehGeh has told his brothers and sisters to work hard and stop depending entirely on him, saying he has children to care for. His message has reopened a familiar debate about the pressure Nigerian families put on relatives who become successful.

Popular Nigerian social media personality and financial adviser GehGeh has stirred reactions online after sending a strong message to his family members and to those who believe he should carry the financial responsibilities of everyone around him.

"Go and work"

Speaking openly about the pressure that comes with financial success, GehGeh made it clear that having money does not mean one person should become the permanent provider for an entire family.

According to him, his brothers and sisters must learn to work hard and take responsibility for their own lives rather than depending entirely on him.

"If you're my brother or my sister, go and work. Don't depend only on me because I have children I need to take care of. I can't do more than my power for family members," he said.

A familiar Nigerian story

His message touches on something many Nigerians can relate to, especially those who have become financially stable while other relatives continue to struggle.

In many families, once one person starts making money, expectations begin to grow. School fees, house rent, feeding allowances, business capital and even personal expenses suddenly become that person's responsibility. Sometimes the demands never seem to end.

Drawing the line

GehGeh appears determined to draw a line. He did not suggest that helping relatives is wrong, but his message was clear: family support should have limits, particularly when someone has children and responsibilities of their own.

His remarks also highlight the pressure successful people face from relatives who believe family ties automatically guarantee financial support.

Family members should help one another whenever they can. But should one person's success become an excuse for everyone else to stop trying?

Over to you

Is GehGeh being too harsh on his family, or is he simply saying what many successful people are afraid to tell their relatives?

Obasanjo's son Olujuwon joins pro-Tinubu movement, backs President for 2027

Olujuwon Obasanjo, a son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has reportedly joined the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as Special Adviser on Political Affairs and pledged to support President Tinubu's re-election. His father has been a fierce critic of the government.

A son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Olujuwon Obasanjo, has thrown his support behind President Bola Tinubu's bid for a second term.

What happened

According to reports on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, Olujuwon joined the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as Special Adviser on Political Affairs during a visit to its headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by the National Coordinator, Sunday Asuku, and shown around the facility. He described the appointment as an honour, praised the movement's community outreach and said he had followed its work for some time.

What he said

Olujuwon reportedly said the President had started on a good note and urged Nigerians, especially young people, to support the continuation of the government's reforms. He said the country had made progress in several areas and pledged to contribute to the President's re-election.

Background

The move stands out because his father has been one of the government's harshest critics. Last week, the former President described the government's borrowing as 'absolute nonsense'. The PBAT movement, whose grand patron is former Niger Delta militant leader Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), recently launched its Ogun State chapter and donated 26 campaign vehicles. Members of political families supporting different sides is common in Nigerian politics.

How people reacted

APC supporters welcomed the news, while some critics said it would not change the former President's views or influence voters in Ogun State, where both Obasanjo and the President's allies are active.

Appeal Court upholds Abdulrahman-led PDP leadership, losing faction heads to Supreme Court

The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by Senator Adolphus Wabara and seven others, affirming the PDP National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed. The losing faction says it will go to the Supreme Court.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has ruled in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, the latest turn in the party's long-running leadership crisis.

The judgment

On Wednesday, 4 November 2026, a three-member special panel led by Justice Ugochukwu Anthony Ogakwu dismissed an appeal filed by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara and seven others, according to reports. The appellants had asked the court to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise an interim National Working Committee led by Turaki instead of the Abdulrahman-led NWC. The panel upheld an earlier Federal High Court judgment that backed the Abdulrahman-led committee.

What happens next

The losing faction announced plans to take the matter to the Supreme Court, vowing to continue the legal battle.

Background

The PDP, Nigeria's main opposition party for much of the past decade, has been split by leadership disputes since its defeat in the 2023 elections. Several of its leading figures have left to join other parties or opposition coalitions, while others, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, have backed President Bola Tinubu. The party has continued to field candidates for the 2027 elections in many states, but its internal crisis has raised questions about its strength.

Why it matters

Who controls the party's national leadership affects the nomination of candidates and the party's dealings with INEC ahead of the January 2027 elections.
