Singer Skales has shared a story from the early days of his career involving two of Nigeria's biggest stars, Burna Boy and Davido.

What he said

In comments that spread on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, Skales said he and Burna Boy were booked to perform their collaboration 'Temper' at a show in Yola. According to him, Burna Boy contacted Davido and asked if they could travel on his private jet, and Davido agreed. Because the plane was already full, Davido reportedly asked one of his team members to stay behind and fly the next day. Skales said the jet was still so crowded that one person had to sit on the toilet seat during the flight.

A lucky break

Skales reportedly said the Yola trip led to an important connection for him with the international act Major Lazer, which helped his career.

Background

'Temper', released in 2014, was one of Skales's biggest hits and featured Burna Boy. Burna Boy and Davido have had a complicated relationship over the years, with periods of rivalry among their fans, although they have also shown respect for each other in public. Both are now global stars, with Burna Boy winning a Grammy in 2021 and Davido receiving multiple Grammy nominations.

How people reacted

Fans enjoyed the throwback, with some joking about the toilet seat and others saying it showed that the stars once helped each other.

YBNL boss Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, has spoken in defence of Yoruba culture and tradition.

What he said

At a private screening of 'Ose Dudu', a new film produced by his friend, actress Sotayo Gaga, on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, Olamide was asked about the traditional black soap of the same name, which some people associate with spiritual or diabolical practices. In a video from the event, he said Yoruba culture and tradition are not diabolical and should not be demonised, and that people should be proud of who they are and where they come from. He said he would not hesitate to use the soap if someone offered it to him.

Background

Ose dudu, or black soap, is widely used across West Africa for skin care and is made from natural ingredients such as plantain skins, cocoa pods and palm oil. In some contexts it is also prepared with herbs for traditional spiritual purposes, which has led to suspicion among some religious people. Olamide is one of Nigeria's most influential rappers and record label owners, and has launched the careers of several stars.

How people reacted

Many fans praised Olamide for standing up for African heritage, while others said they would still be careful with traditional products associated with spiritual rites.

Odumodublvck claims some artists turn to spiritual means to get hit songs

Rapper Odumodublvck has claimed on a podcast that some Nigerian artists resort to spiritual practices to get hit songs, without naming anyone or giving evidence. He praised Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido for delivering hits for years.

Rapper Odumodublvck, real name Tochukwu Ojogwu, has made a controversial claim about how some musicians chase success in Nigeria's competitive music industry.

What he said

Speaking on a podcast, in comments shared on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, the rapper said getting a hit song is not easy and that some people even turn to spiritual practices, popularly called 'jazz', to get one. He said this is why some artists appear to struggle badly when they cannot get a hit. He did not name any artist or provide evidence for the claim.

Praise for the big three

Odumodublvck praised Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido, saying their ability to release successful songs consistently for years deserves respect. He noted that some artists never get a single hit in their entire careers.

Background

Odumodublvck rose to fame with his 2023 hit 'Declan Rice' and is known for bold statements. Earlier this week he drew mockery after claiming that Nigerians did not know Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice until he released the song. Claims about artists using spiritual help for success are a long-running topic of gossip in Nigerian entertainment, but they are rarely backed by evidence.

How people reacted

Fans were divided. Some said the claim reflected what many people already suspect, while others accused the rapper of spreading rumours and said hard work and talent explain most hits.

"Men, I finally understand what you go through, and I'm sorry": American hip-hop artist Rayven Tyler speaks on dating women

American hip-hop artist Rayven Tyler has sparked conversation about relationships after sharing her experience of dating women and admitting that she now understands some of the challenges men face.

What she said

According to the artist, her personal experiences have given her a different perspective on dating, and made her appreciate what many men go through when trying to keep their relationships going.

"After dating women for so long, I just want to say I get it now, men, and I'm sorry. Now I know what you guys are passing through," she reportedly said.

Why it struck a chord

For years, men have complained about the pressures they face in relationships, from managing emotional expectations to dealing with misunderstandings and trying to keep their partners happy.

Tyler's statement suggests that her own dating experiences have helped her see some of those complaints from a different angle. What makes her comments particularly interesting is that she is speaking from her own experience of dating women, a perspective that has drawn plenty of attention.

Her remarks have opened a wider discussion about emotional expectations, communication and the difficulties that sometimes come with understanding a partner.

Every relationship is different

Relationship experiences differ from person to person, and her comments reflect her own perspective rather than the behaviour of all women.

Over to you

Does dating women give women a better understanding of what men experience in relationships, or does everything depend on the individual involved?
