Comedian and skit maker The Cute Abiola has joined Nigerians complaining about poor electricity supply and economic hardship, in videos addressed directly to President Bola Tinubu.

What he said

In one video shared online on Friday, 6 November 2026, the content creator said his solar power system had gone off because of heavy use during the long power outages in his area. He appealed to the President to help Nigerians, saying everywhere was hot, there was no light and the suffering was too much. In another video, he said he had just sold one of his cars to ease his financial situation, explaining that he owed people money and still needed funds to shoot new content. He added that he hoped things would not get to the point where he had to sell his house.

Background

Abiola, whose real name is Abdulgafar Ahmed, became popular for his comedy skits and is a former member of the Nigerian Navy. His complaints come as consumers in Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, Kwara and Oyo states report renewed power outages, which the federal government has blamed on gas shortages, maintenance problems and reduced hydropower generation. The government has also started paying a ₦50,000 monthly relief grant to selected households.

How people reacted

Many fans sympathised and said his videos reflected what millions of Nigerians are going through. Some critics said he had not praised the government when things were going well for him and was now blaming the President, while others said public figures should be free to speak about their struggles.

TikTok streamer Peller has got people talking after surprising an elderly pastor popularly known as Jehovah, or Baba Jehovah, with a large wave of virtual gifts during a livestream.

What happened

In a video that spread widely on X on Thursday, 5 November 2026, Peller and fellow content creator Matta joined the pastor's TikTok Live and sent him gift after gift, including roses and a high-value 'Universe' gift that set off one of the app's full-screen animations. The gifts were reportedly worth around ₦3 million. As the alerts piled up on screen, the pastor prayed loudly for Peller and for his unborn child.

The controversy

The moment drew criticism because of what happened next. Matta reportedly told the elderly pastor to stand up and show appreciation to Peller, which he did, and then told him to roll on the floor as a sign of gratitude. Many viewers felt the request was disrespectful to an older man.

Background

Peller, whose real name is Habeeb Hamzat, is one of Nigeria's most popular TikTok streamers. He and his wife, fellow streamer Jarvis, announced in early October 2026 that they were expecting a child and later said it would be a girl. Peller has also been in the news recently after rapper YCee used him as an example while talking about the popularity of light-hearted online content. TikTok gifts can be converted into real money by the person receiving them, after the platform takes its share.

How people reacted

Reactions were split. Many fans praised Peller's generosity and said the gifts would make a real difference to the pastor, while others said the way he was asked to show gratitude went too far and urged creators to treat older people with more respect.

"If not for VeryDarkMan, I wouldn't be where I am today": Ratel Princess Jojooflele expresses gratitude from China

Social media personality Jojooflele, known as the Ratel Princess, has publicly thanked VeryDarkMan for changing her life, saying her following and opportunities grew after she met him. She spoke from China, a long way from the Nedu controversy that first brought her into the spotlight.

Popular social media personality Jojooflele, widely known as the Ratel Princess, has openly expressed her appreciation for VeryDarkMan (VDM), acknowledging the role he has played in changing her life.

"If not for VDM"

Speaking from China, Jojooflele reflected on how far she has come and how her association with VDM opened doors she probably never imagined would open so soon.

"If not for VDM, I wouldn't be where I am today," she said.

According to her, things took a completely different turn after she met VeryDarkMan. Her social media pages began attracting more attention, her followers increased, and opportunities started coming her way.

How it all started

What makes her story even more interesting is how it began. Many will remember the controversy involving Nedu, when Jojooflele found herself at the centre of public attention, with people discussing her personal life and questioning her actions.

For someone else, that kind of controversy could have been enough to damage their confidence or push them off social media completely.

Instead, Jojooflele turned the attention into something positive. Rather than letting the controversy define her future, she kept building her presence online and eventually became a familiar face among supporters of the Ratel Movement.

A lesson in gratitude

Today, she is in China, reflecting on her journey and publicly appreciating someone she believes contributed greatly to her success.

Jojooflele deserves credit for how she has handled her growing popularity. The right connections can open doors, but what you do with those opportunities matters just as much.

Her appreciation for VDM is also worth acknowledging. In a society where people sometimes forget those who supported them once they start to succeed, publicly recognising someone's contribution says a lot about gratitude.

Setbacks are not the end

Perhaps the biggest lesson here is never to be too quick to conclude that your present difficulties will decide your future. The situation people expect to destroy you can end up introducing you to opportunities you never knew existed.

What looks like a setback today may become part of the story you proudly tell tomorrow.

Over to you

What do you think about Jojooflele's journey from the Nedu controversy to her growing popularity and opportunities abroad?

"VeryDarkMan, you have gone too far. Respect Davido's marriage and leave Chioma out of this": Content creator Roskey blasts VDM

Content creator Roskey has called out VeryDarkMan for resurfacing a video of Davido enjoying Zlatan's song, saying VDM should respect the singer's marriage to Chioma. He also asked why VDM has not gone after Carter Efe, who insulted his mother.

Content creator Roskey has called out social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) over his decision to resurface a video involving Nigerian music superstar Davido, popularly known as OBO.

According to Roskey, some things should be left alone, especially when a married man and his family could be dragged into unnecessary controversy.

"You went too far"

Roskey questioned why VDM would bring back a video of Davido enjoying Zlatan's song, knowing fully well that the singer is now married to Chioma.

What appears to have upset him even more is that VDM attended Davido's wedding. In Roskey's view, that alone should have been reason enough for VDM to show some restraint.

"VeryDarkMan, you went too far by posting that video of Davido. You know OBO is married now, and his wife, Chioma, won't be happy seeing that video circulating again," Roskey said.

He argued that marriage comes with responsibilities, and that people who have access to celebrities should know when to draw the line.

"He barely danced"

Roskey also questioned what Davido actually did in the video to deserve so much attention. According to him, Davido barely danced in the footage. He simply raised his hand while Zlatan's song was playing.

So why make such a big issue out of something that looked so harmless?

The Carter Efe question

Roskey went further and questioned VDM's priorities, bringing up his clash with fellow entertainer Carter Efe, who recently made insulting remarks about VDM's mother in a video.

"Why haven't you gone after Carter Efe, who insulted your mother? Why are you targeting Davido? Or is there something you're not telling us?" he asked.

That last question has added another layer to the controversy. Roskey appears to believe there may be more behind VDM's decision to revisit the Davido video, although he presented no evidence of any hidden motive.

What about Davido's marriage?

Roskey's bigger concern is the possible effect of these online fights on Davido's marriage. Celebrities are constantly under public scrutiny, but he believes there should be some consideration for their spouses and families, particularly when old videos are brought back into circulation.

Whether the video poses any real threat to Davido's marriage remains a matter of speculation, and there is no sign that Chioma has publicly expressed displeasure over the footage.

For now, Roskey's message to VDM is clear: whatever point he is trying to make, Davido's marriage should not become collateral damage.

Over to you

Did VeryDarkMan genuinely cross the line by reposting the video, or is Roskey making too much of an ordinary clip of Davido enjoying music?

"Zlatan, I'm coming for you, you will learn the hard way": VeryDarkMan fires warning at Zlatan over Davido's viral wedding video

VeryDarkMan has reacted angrily to a viral video of Davido singing lyrics that appeared to mock him at Zlatan Ibile's wedding welcome party in Morocco. VDM accuses Zlatan of using his new song, INFERNO, to take a swipe at him, and has warned the singer he will "learn the hard way".

Social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has once again stirred controversy after reacting angrily to a viral video of Afrobeats superstar Davido singing lyrics that appeared to mock him at Zlatan Ibile's wedding welcome party in Morocco.

What was supposed to be a moment of celebration has become another talking point online, with VDM accusing Zlatan of using his newly released song, INFERNO, to throw indirect insults at him.

The lyric that started it

The controversy began after a video surfaced showing Davido enthusiastically singing along to a line that sounded like, "I no be Vincent, I no dey mast…"

For those familiar with VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, the reference to "Vincent" immediately raised eyebrows, particularly because of his earlier controversial comments about masturbation.

VDM responds

VDM did not find it funny. In a video shared online, he defended his earlier statements, insisting he saw nothing wrong with his position. According to him, he would rather satisfy himself than go around begging women for attention.

He also questioned why his personal comments had apparently become material for a song, suggesting Zlatan was deliberately taking a swipe at him.

What caught many people's attention was the warning he directed at the singer. Speaking in Pidgin, he said, in effect: "Zlatan, I'm coming for you now. You will learn the hard way."

The Davido angle

The episode has also brought fresh attention to VDM's relationship with Davido. The two were once publicly friendly, and their association drew plenty of attention online. Their relationship has since appeared strained, with fans often speculating about what went wrong.

Seeing Davido sing along to lyrics VDM believes were aimed at him has only added another chapter to that conversation.

Was it really about VDM?

There is no confirmed evidence that Zlatan wrote the lyrics to attack VeryDarkMan. That interpretation is VDM's, and the viral clip alone does not show what the singer intended.

Even so, social media users are divided. Some believe VDM is taking an ordinary lyric too personally, while others argue that using a name tied to someone already at the centre of a public controversy was always going to draw a reaction.

Knowing how outspoken VDM can be, many followers are now watching to see whether this ends with his warning or turns into another public confrontation.

Over to you

Was Zlatan deliberately mocking VeryDarkMan through his song, or is VDM reading too much into the lyrics?
