State police clears the 24-state hurdle
Twenty-four state Houses of Assembly have now voted for the constitutional amendment creating state police, reaching the two-thirds of states the constitution requires. Lagos, Ondo, Ebonyi and several northern states are yet to vote. The resolutions now head back to the National Assembly and then to the President for assent. Gombe's Assembly is the latest reported to have approved the bill.
