National Union of Road Transport Workers president Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has spoken openly about his efforts to improve his English.

What he said

Speaking at a rally in support of President Bola Tinubu's re-election on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, MC Oluomo reportedly said he was attending adult lessons to sharpen his spoken English. Addressing Nollywood actor Lege Miami, who organised the event, he joked about their shared struggles with the language. He also pointed to his children, who he said work in the United States as a nurse, a doctor and an engineer, as proof of his success.

Background

MC Oluomo rose from Lagos motor parks to become the national president of the NURTW and is a close ally of the President. He has often been mocked online over his English. At the same rally, Lege Miami broke down in tears while thanking MC Oluomo and others for supporting the event. Separately, a Lagos court this week ordered the arrest of the union's Lagos State chairman over alleged contempt.

How people reacted

Many people praised MC Oluomo for being honest and willing to keep learning, while others joked about the exchange between him and Lege Miami.

Obasanjo's son Olujuwon joins pro-Tinubu movement, backs President for 2027

A son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Olujuwon Obasanjo, has thrown his support behind President Bola Tinubu's bid for a second term.

What happened

According to reports on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, Olujuwon joined the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as Special Adviser on Political Affairs during a visit to its headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by the National Coordinator, Sunday Asuku, and shown around the facility. He described the appointment as an honour, praised the movement's community outreach and said he had followed its work for some time.

What he said

Olujuwon reportedly said the President had started on a good note and urged Nigerians, especially young people, to support the continuation of the government's reforms. He said the country had made progress in several areas and pledged to contribute to the President's re-election.

Background

The move stands out because his father has been one of the government's harshest critics. Last week, the former President described the government's borrowing as 'absolute nonsense'. The PBAT movement, whose grand patron is former Niger Delta militant leader Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), recently launched its Ogun State chapter and donated 26 campaign vehicles. Members of political families supporting different sides is common in Nigerian politics.

How people reacted

APC supporters welcomed the news, while some critics said it would not change the former President's views or influence voters in Ogun State, where both Obasanjo and the President's allies are active.

Appeal Court upholds Abdulrahman-led PDP leadership, losing faction heads to Supreme Court

The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by Senator Adolphus Wabara and seven others, affirming the PDP National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed. The losing faction says it will go to the Supreme Court.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has ruled in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, the latest turn in the party's long-running leadership crisis.

The judgment

On Wednesday, 4 November 2026, a three-member special panel led by Justice Ugochukwu Anthony Ogakwu dismissed an appeal filed by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara and seven others, according to reports. The appellants had asked the court to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise an interim National Working Committee led by Turaki instead of the Abdulrahman-led NWC. The panel upheld an earlier Federal High Court judgment that backed the Abdulrahman-led committee.

What happens next

The losing faction announced plans to take the matter to the Supreme Court, vowing to continue the legal battle.

Background

The PDP, Nigeria's main opposition party for much of the past decade, has been split by leadership disputes since its defeat in the 2023 elections. Several of its leading figures have left to join other parties or opposition coalitions, while others, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, have backed President Bola Tinubu. The party has continued to field candidates for the 2027 elections in many states, but its internal crisis has raised questions about its strength.

Why it matters

Who controls the party's national leadership affects the nomination of candidates and the party's dealings with INEC ahead of the January 2027 elections.

Court fixes 8 December for judgment in El-Rufai's ₦10bn suit against ICPC

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed 8 December for judgment in former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai's ₦10 billion rights suit against the ICPC over access to him in custody. The ICPC says his wife broke access rules.

A Federal High Court in Abuja will deliver judgment on 8 December 2026 in a ₦10 billion fundamental rights suit filed by former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The case

Justice Chigozie Onah fixed the date on Wednesday, 4 November, after lawyers for both sides adopted their written arguments, according to reports. The suit, filed on 13 August, concerns access to El-Rufai while he was in the commission's custody. His lawyer argued that CCTV footage shown in court did not prove any security breach by his wife or son that could justify denying them visits.

The ICPC's position

The ICPC told the court that El-Rufai's wife broke its access rules on two occasions, including entering its premises after official visiting hours.

Background

El-Rufai governed Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023 and later left the APC to join the opposition coalition that adopted the African Democratic Congress. He has been involved in several legal disputes with anti-corruption agencies, and has appealed publicly for a fair trial. This week he told his supporters, through an ally, to vote for the ADC at every level in 2027.

What happens next

The court's ruling on 8 December will decide whether the ICPC violated El-Rufai's rights and whether he is entitled to compensation.
