Francis Duru's family announces burial for 11 December in Imo

The family of veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has announced his burial arrangements, weeks after he died at the age of 59.
The arrangements
In a statement titled 'Forever in our hearts' posted on the actor's official Instagram page on Monday, 2 November 2026, the family said funeral events will begin with a service of songs and tributes in Abuja on Wednesday, 25 November, at 5pm at the Family Worship Center in Wuye. A second service of songs will be held on Thursday, 10 December, at his late father's family compound in Okai, Eziama, Isiala Mbano, Imo State. The funeral and burial will follow on Friday, 11 December, in the same community. The family added that branches and associations in various states are also organising their own services of songs.
Background
Duru died on 22 October 2026 after an illness the family did not disclose. He was one of Nollywood's best-known faces from the 1990s and 2000s, starring in many popular films. His death led to tributes from colleagues across the industry. Last week, the family warned the public against fake burial flyers circulating online and said only official announcements should be trusted.
