Davido has drawn attention online after a video showed him praying for Zlatan Ibile and his wife at their white wedding reception in Morocco.

What happened

In footage shared on Friday, 6 November 2026, the singer is seen standing in a grand ballroom decorated with chandeliers and draped fabric, addressing the couple and their guests. Instead of giving a conventional speech, he said prayer was his priority. He began by mentioning the couple's traditional wedding, which had already taken place in Lagos, and said it had gone smoothly despite the large crowd, before praying for the newlyweds and their marriage.

Background

Zlatan, one of Nigeria's best-known rappers, held his white wedding in Morocco after a traditional ceremony in Lagos. Videos from the celebrations have been widely shared, including one of Zlatan in tears and another of Davido singing along to Zlatan's song 'Inferno'. The weddings came during a public feud between Davido and social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), who has also taken swipes at Zlatan and said this week he would be turning his attention to the rapper. Davido's aide Israel DMW has also denied claims linking the singer to VDM's past arrest.

How people reacted

Many fans praised Davido's sincerity and said the clip showed a spiritual side of him that people rarely see. Some asked why others were surprised, pointing out that he often speaks about his faith, while VDM's supporters continued to debate the feud in the comments.

Magixx says he struggled to pay bills after signing to Mavin Records

Mavin singer Magixx says it took two to three months before he started earning after signing his record deal, and that people assumed he was rich. He says Nigerian artistes need songs with international appeal to build real wealth.

Mavin Records singer Magixx has spoken about the financial realities of the music business, saying a record deal does not automatically make an artiste rich.

What he said

Speaking on an episode of a music podcast, reported on Friday, 6 November 2026, the singer said he did not start earning from music immediately after signing to Don Jazzy's label. It took about two to three months before money began to come in, he said, and during that time he struggled to pay bills and meet family responsibilities. He added that asking people for help became difficult because they assumed his record deal meant he was already wealthy, while he was also expected to keep up the image of a star, including wearing expensive designer clothes.

Building wealth

Magixx said Nigerian musicians need songs with international appeal to make serious money, and that releasing hits consistently is key to staying financially stable.

Background

Magixx signed with Mavin Records in 2021 and is known for songs such as 'Love Don't Cost a Dime'. His comments come in the same week that fellow Mavin artiste Crayon posted, and later deleted, emotional messages about the label and his friendship with Rema.

How people reacted

Fans thanked him for being honest about the pressures young artistes face, while some said his story showed why upcoming musicians should manage expectations after signing a deal.

What happened

The video, which surfaced on X and Instagram on Friday, 6 November 2026, shows the two crossing paths at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Odumodublvck spotted Obi near what appeared to be the check-in or security area and greeted him energetically, calling him 'His Excellency' and praising him as a man who is always on the move. Obi barely slowed his stride before hurrying further into the terminal to catch his flight. The rapper later shared the moment on his own social media pages.

Background

Obi, a former Anambra State governor, came third in the 2023 presidential election and is running again in 2027 with Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate. He is known for travelling on commercial flights and for an image of being constantly busy. The two men are said to have had a warmer, more relaxed meeting at an airport in 2025. Odumodublvck, an Abuja-based rapper, rose to fame with the hit 'Declan Rice' and recently warned young artists that Lagos is a hard place to grow in the music industry.

How people reacted

Many social media users found the moment funny, with some joking about Obi's speed and others asking whether he had snubbed the rapper. His supporters said he was simply rushing to avoid missing his flight, while political rivals used the clip to tease him.

"My oga had nothing to do with any plot to arrest VeryDarkMan": Israel DMW defends Davido amid controversy

Davido's aide Israel DMW has denied that the singer had any hand in an alleged plot to have VeryDarkMan arrested, or in Naira Marley's troubles during the Mohbad case. He says those who told VDM otherwise lied.

Davido's loyal aide, Israel DMW, has come out to defend his boss following speculation linking the Afrobeats superstar to an alleged plot to get social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) arrested.

"Oga had no hands in it"

In a post addressed to "Dearest Nigerians", Israel said Davido had no hand in Naira Marley's ordeal during the Mohbad case, nor in any plot to see VDM arrested.

He said those who were in the WhatsApp group linked to the matter got there without Davido's instructions or approval, and that those who told VDM otherwise "fully lied".

Sam Klef, Mohbad's catalogue and Zino

Israel also asked why Davido would have any issue with Sam Klef, and denied that the singer ever asked for Mohbad's music catalogue or tried to sign Zino.

"Naira and oga are cool"

According to Israel, there was serious pressure on Davido at the time to unfollow Naira Marley on Instagram, but he categorically refused, saying he wanted the police to do their job and did not want to act on hearsay.

"Naira and oga are cool," he wrote, adding that the two even made a hit song together.

On an incident at Naira Marley's house, Israel said it involved Tolu 30BG, who had a disagreement with one of Naira's boys, and insisted that nobody was beaten or attacked.

Why the denial matters

VDM is known for speaking openly about controversial issues and challenging influential people, which has earned him both strong supporters and fierce critics. Whenever the names Davido and VeryDarkMan appear in the same controversy, Nigerians are bound to have plenty to say.

Israel's message is straightforward: whatever controversy surrounds VDM, his boss should not be accused of involvement without proof.

It is important to note that the allegations remain unverified. Israel's denial is his own position, and there is no established evidence that Davido took part in any plot to have VDM arrested.

Over to you

Who is actually behind the alleged move to arrest VeryDarkMan, and why is Davido's name being mentioned? Until credible evidence emerges, the public should be careful about turning social media speculation into fact.
