Coalition raises alarm over alleged military threats after Yelwata massacre statement
The National Coalition Against Mass Killings and Impunity, in collaboration with the Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organisation, has raised considerations about alleged threats and doable harassment of its participants by the militia following its assertion on the Yelwata massacre in Benue Articulate.
The Defence Headquarters had denied allegations that the Chief of Defence Crew, Overall Christopher Musa, made insensitive remarks regarding the massacre. The coalition said that it is being wrongfully accused of undermining the Armed Forces, noting that such accusations in Nigeria on the entire lead to the silencing of civil society voices thru arrests or surveillance.
“Our advocacy is soundless and true. We construct now not raise weapons. We grunt for the victims. Any strive and silence us personal to be viewed as a violation of human rights,” the community asserted, calling for the protection of its participants.
The coalition vowed to continue its mission to survey justice for communities tormented by mass killings and abuses. It also acknowledged the arrest of suspects connected to the Yelwata massacre, the build over 200 other people had been killed, describing the enchancment as a severe step toward justice.
While commending the Nigeria Police Force for the arrests, the community emphasised that they mustn't ever serve as mere public members of the family gestures. “The victims of this genocide deserve justice that is viewed, felt, and relied on,” it said.
